Here at the Minhas Distillery, we love margaritas. This classic drink is not only delicious — it’s also incredibly versatile. Hundreds upon hundreds of variations can be found online. The one that we are going to share with you today is just one of our many favorites.
Don’t let the long list of ingredients scare you off; this recipe is simpler than it looks. It’s also a lot more delicious than it sounds. Today, we are going to teach you how to make a margarita with fresh basil. But before doing that let’s take a quick look at the list of ingredients that you will need:
4 cups of pineapple chunks (about 1 pineapple)*
1/3 cup of fresh basil
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 cups of limeade
1 cup of tequila
1 tablespoon of salt
Pineapple chunks and basil for garnish
Please keep in mind that while fresh pineapple chunks are preferred, we’re very aware that this is currently wintertime and that sometimes it’s just impossible to get your hands on fresh fruits. Frozen pineapple chunks or even canned ones can do the trick just fine.
To make a margarita with fresh basil, begin by blending the pineapple chunks in a blender. Don’t blend too long; ideally you want the pineapple chunks to be finely chopped instead of pureed. Muddle the basil with the sugar in a large pitcher. Combine the pineapple, the limeade, the tequila and the salt, and refrigerate for one hour or more. When the margarita has been chilled to your taste, add in a handful of ice cubes and garnish with pineapple chunks and fresh basil leaves. Serve and enjoy!
