Here’s a combination you never heard of before: Bourbon and mint.

Now before you shake your head at us and click on your “back” button, hear us out. The classic margarita is one of the most versatile cocktails out there. In the past, we’ve covered all kinds of margaritas, from chocolaty margaritas to fruity margaritas to minty margaritas. What do these recipes share in common?

They are all delicious.

This recipe is no exception. In fact it’s such a non-exception that it’s become one of our favorite recipes. If you give it a chance, then you might just end up falling in love with it like we did.

Today, we are going to teach you how to make a margarita with bourbon and mint. But before doing that, let’s take a quick look at the list of ingredients that you will need:

2 limes cut into wedges (reserve 1 wedge for garnish)
2 teaspoons of sugar
10 fresh mint leaves
2 ounces of bourbon
1 ounce of orange liqueur (such as triple sec)
1/4 cup seltzer

To make a margarita with bourbon and mint, begin by placing the lime wedges in a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Sprinkle the sugar on top of the wedges before adding the mint leaves. Muddle until the sugar has dissolved. Add the bourbon and the orange liqueur. Cover and shake until the exterior of the shaker has started to frost over. Strain into a glass filled with ice cubes, top off with seltzer and garnish with a fresh wedge of lime. Serve and enjoy!

Happy and safe drinking from the Minhas Distillery!
