When you think of gin cocktails, do you usually think of buttermilk? Probably not. But here’s the thing: What makes gin cocktails so amazing is how versatile they are. Plenty of gin cocktail recipes involve ingredients ranging from exotic to downright bizarre. And guess what? Some of them work, and some of them don’t. It’s all a matter of finding what works for you and what doesn’t.
If you pride yourself in having an open mind, then you have come to the right place. We have the perfect recipe for you, and we will be teaching you how to make it. But before teaching you how to make a gin cocktail with buttermilk, let’s take a look at the list of ingredients that you will need:
1 egg, separated
2 ounces of gin
1 ounce of buttermilk
1/2 ounce of maple syrup
To make a gin cocktail with buttermilk, simply place the egg yolk in a cocktail shaker and shake for 10 seconds or so. If you do not own a cocktail shaker, then we highly encourage that you purchase one before attempting to make this recipe. (They can be bought for $20 or so online.) Proceed to fill the shaker with ice cubes and to pour the gin, the buttermilk and the maple syrup in it. Shake until the ingredients have mixed together or until the exterior of the shaker has started to frost over. Strain into cocktail glasses that have been previously chilled and enjoy! If you wish, you may also grate some fresh nutmeg on top of the cocktails for garnish.
